Hello Troy!
First of all, thank you so much for your kindness and openness to us fans, and for taking the little time you have to do something for us. This kind of relationship to the fans is very rare and we appreciate it very much! It means the world to us! Now, let’s start with the questions: EvCroatia: What surprises you most about Evanescence fans? Troy: Their loyalty to the band. EvCroatia: What is the most beautiful memory you have from this tour so far? Troy: So far it has been a great tour with many good memories. A lot of new places that I have never been. Morocco, Madrid and Vienna just to name a few. I think the whole tour will be a good memory when I am older and not touring anymore. EvCroatia: Everyone was thrilled by your unplugged performance in Germany. It was a great success and a lot of people, fan or not, were literally blown away by it. Lots of fans are constantly sending requests to MTV via twitter, asking for an Evanescence MTV Unplugged show. Have you considered doing something similar (maybe with an orchestra) in the future? Troy: No. Amy says this was the first acoustic performance that Ev has ever done with the full band. There hasn't been a lot of focus on acoustic but I'm sure if the opportunity came up we would consider it. EvCroatia: Is Terry always so shy, or is it just when he is in front of a big crowd? Troy: He is just a quiet person unless he doesn't get his sweet tea, haha. EvCroatia: Have you considered adding some new songs to the setlist (maybe some songs from Fallen or The Open Door, or some songs you haven't played so far from the new record)? In general, can we expect some changes or surprises on the current European tour? Troy: We are always changing the set and adding new songs and taking out other songs. We currently play songs from every album and the set list is always changing. EvCroatia: Are there any differences between the work with Evanescence and the work with DND and Seether? Have you ever seen yourself as a band member of a female fronted rock band, or have you been aiming at something different? Troy: This is the only band that I have played in that was fronted by a female but I don't find major differences from other bands that I have worked with. The main difference I would say is the sound of the music we create. Because it is a different group of people with different musical influences and when you change the people you are creating with the sound changes. EvCroatia: Many fans noticed that there's no interaction between band members on stage. How do you see that? Troy: I don't see it that way. Me and Will interact every night with each other on stage. I love that kind of interaction but some of the other members think that is an old school way of putting on a show. So I just rock out with my buddy Will and have a good time. EvCroatia: Do you ever get stage fright and if so, why and when? Troy: Sure. The first time I ever played in front of a crowd of people was at the talent show at my school when I was in 8th or 9th grade. I was really nervous but I went out and did it and I figured that it would never be that scary again, haha. EvCroatia: What is the worst thing that ever happened to you while performing on stage? Troy: One time I was coming off of the stage in an old band I was in, and the stage was really high. So I had to jump down to get off of the stage, but it was dark, and there was a chair that I didn't see. I hurt my back pretty bad because I landed on the chair, but I had to finish the show. So I had to climb back up onto this tall stage and I could barely stand. It sucked! EvCroatia: What is the hardest part to play on a concert? Troy: I don't know. I guess sometimes the guitar solo's are the hardest depending on which solo it is. Some solo's I play the same every night and some I like to make up as I go along which is more difficult but more fun, too. EvCroatia: What do you argue about the most as a band? Troy: What movie to watch on the bus. EvCroatia: Can you read sheet music? Did you go to music school, or did you learn everything by yourself? Troy: I used to read music when I played trumpet in school but I haven't read in years or played the trumpet in years. I learned to play guitar by ear. I just started learning how to play my favorite songs by listening to them very closely and trying to pick out just the guitar parts. EvCroatia: Marta, one of our administrators, plays the guitar. Do you, as an experienced musician, have any advices you would like to share for anyone who's playing it? Troy: Guitar is something that you have to practice all of the time. You can always learn something new and get better. Always stay open minded and expand your abilities. EvCroatia: How and when did you decide to grow your hair again? Troy: Well, I cut it off because I was tired of it being so hot on the back of my neck. But I soon realized that short hair is just as much a pain in the ass as long hair. I have had long hair for most of my life and I am comfortable with it. I also like to change things up once in a while so I don't get bored. So I grew it back out. EvCroatia: How many tattoos do you have? When did you get your first one and do you have a tattoo that has a special meaning to you? Troy: I have 3. The dead fish in the water has special meaning to me. It is actually 2 tattoo's done at different times. I felt very lost at the time that I got them. I felt like I wasn't in control of my life. Thus the dead fish floating aimlessly at the mercy of the sea. EvCroatia: Do you have any artists on your iPod/laptop that fans would not expect? Troy: Probably, but I don't know what you wouldn't expect. I have Beethoven, Accept, The Beatles, ZZ Top, Metallica and the soundtrack to "Grease" the movie. Any of those unexpected? EvCroatia: What was the last book you read? Troy: The last couple of books that I have finished were Eric Clapton's Autobiography, Water for Elephants and a self help book. EvCroatia: What is your favorite movie? Troy: Probably Halloween or The Shining. I love horror movies but there are so many, it's hard to pick one. EvCroatia: Do you prefer cats or dogs? Do you have any pets at home? Troy: I like both. I grew up with a lot of pets. I had dogs, cats, cockatiels, turtles, hamsters and fish. We have a cat at home named Juliet. EvCroatia: Do you speak a foreign language? Troy: No. I wish I did though. Especially when I am in other countries but then you can't know every language. EvCroatia: If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be? Troy: I would want to be able to teleport myself anywhere and I could teleport people with me. Then I could have my family with me or I could teleport to the show and back home to sleep in my bed at night. EvCroatia: Have you ever heard about Croatia before? Do you know where it is? Troy: Of course I have heard of Croatia. It is East of Italy across the water between Bosnia, Hungary and Slovenia. I know where it is now, haha. EvCroatia: Could you tell us 5 things about Troy McLawhorn that we didn’t know? Troy: 1) I am laying in bed right now, typing my answers to this interview. 2) I am Scotch/Irish and probably a few other as well. 3) Spring, Summer are my favorite times of the year because I hate being cold. 4) I wanted to be a drummer before I started playing guitar. 5) I love the ocean! Here you go guys! Enjoy. Troy EvCroatia: Thank you very much, we know you guys are on tour and that your time is definitely limited, so we’re really grateful. Good luck on the rest of the tour, we wish you, your family and the band all the best and we hope to see you in Croatia soon. Greetings to you and the rest of the band! Croatia loves you! PS: Watch out for the Croatian fans in Budapest, June 18th! Sincerely, Marta and Ivan - Administrators of Evanescence Croatia

Troy is one of my favorite artists. He will be a legend when he retires. What makes Evanescence different from the bands is their vocals. She just sings with all her heart and people just melt away. She is a great performer.
