After a three-year hiatus, Evanescence is making a comeback with some new faces. The American rock band have a new line-up with drummer Will Hunt, bassist Tim McCord and guitarists Terry Balsamo and Troy McLawhorn joining lead vocalist Amy Lee for their latest world tour. The band has been through several shake-ups since its debut in 2003, most notably the departure of co-founder Ben Moody in 2003. Other band members who have left the group include keyboardist David Hodges, bassist Will Boyd, guitarist John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray. Speaking to Yahoo! Singapore before their first concert in Singapore, Lee stressed that the new line-up does not affect the band's dynamics. "They (her band members) are all working together like a live band does… everybody gets together and hammers ideas," she said, before adding that their music is now more mature and more diverse. "It's amazing to see people supporting us after [all these] years," Lee gushed, clearly touched at the support that the band has received despite having been out of the music scene for the past few years.

Skipping an opening act, Lee jumped onto the stage and plunged into the freedom-themed song "What You Want" from the band's latest self-titled album. Even the overpowering sound of the bass did not stop the crowd from going wild with their head bobbing and raised arms moving in sync with Lee's energetic prances around the stage. Throughout the night, the band offered up-tempo songs such as "Going Under" and "The Change" as well as rock ballads such as "Lithium" and "Swimming Home" where Lee took the opportunity to flaunt her musical talent on the piano. The night was kept a simple affair, with no special effects except for a simple backdrop and blinding strobe lights, as Lee preferred to let the music reign the stage. The few times that Lee spoke, she repeatedly shared with the audience her excitement on finally performing in Singapore. "Thank you Singapore for having us finally…it has been an awesome experience. Thank you so much for doing this, it's a dream come true!" she exclaimed. As the night went on, it was clear what everybody was waiting for -- and the band quelled the crowd's anticipation with hit single "Bring Me to Life" from their debut album which yielded screams of excitement from the audience. Evanescence then returned for an encore performance and finally closed the night with crowd favourite "My Immortal" -- which no doubt was the one song that most people in the crowd were anticipating as Lee's emotionally charged voice filled the air and sent haunting chills (of a good kind) down this reviewer's back.
