Amy Lee and her goth-tinged rock group Evanescence saw major fanfare with the release of their third studio album in October. The self-titled nugget debuted No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, and the band took that success on the road for a blustering, 14-city North American tour, which just wrapped.
Now, Lee and her entourage are prepping to release the music video for their new single, “My Heart is Broken.” The darkly romantic tune is the follow-up to the album’s debut single, “What You Want,” which presently sits at No. 8 on the active rock chart. Back in early November, Lee told us she was leaning towards, “My Heart is Broken,” as the new single, so it’s good to see the singer sticking with her gut.
As for directing duties, Evanescence have tapped director Dean Karr to oversee the upcoming video. Karr has worked with such lofty names as Iron Maiden, Queens of the Stone Age and Ozzy Osbourne, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see something especially dramatic result from the clip. Would you expect anything less from the theatrical group known as Evanescence? The group shot production on the video on Dec. 1, so things are already almost a wrap. Expect to see the clip premiere in January of 2012. In the meantime, check out Evanescence’s current video for “What You Want,” below.
In other band news, Evanescence have been selected to perform at the prominent Nobel Peace Prize concert in Oslo, Norway on Dec. 11 at the Oslo Spektrum, and the show is set to broadcast globally in a monstrous 130 countries. The show will also be streamed live on CNN International at 8 p.m. CET on Dec. 11. (Photo via YouTube.)
