"Yeah, but it is good to be back. I've been away long enough that it's cool again." she says smiling.
Even after disappearing for over 5 years, Evanescence still have a massive cult following. Between their 2 albums, ‘Fallen’ and ‘The Open Door’ the band has managed to sell over 23 million albums worldwide and win two Grammy Awards. With the release of their new self-titled 3rd album MTV News caught up with frontwoman Amy Lee to find out why they walked away from it all at the height of their success. Uz pjesmu "Bring Me to Life" i album "Fallen" Evanescence su preko noći postali svjetske zvijezde. Drugi album slijedio je 2006. godine, a zatim je nastala tišina oko benda, sve dok se nedavno nije pojavio, jednostavno "Evanescence" nazvan, treći rad Amerikanaca. U intervjuu s n-tv.de šefica benda Amy Lee govori o svojoj pauzi, povratku i stvarno dubokim emocijama.
"Amazing. Really cool. We're really proud."
That's how Evanescence described the honor of topping the Oct. 29 Billboard 200 with its new self-titled album, its first in five years. The group chatted with Chart Beat Oct. 31 at Clear Channel's P.C. Richard & Son Theater in New York before a performance for contest winners as part of the chain's promotion for its iHeartRadio app. "We worked really hard on the record," said Evanescence lead singer Amy Lee. "It means that after all that hard work, it's paid off. People are hearing it and receiving it and listening to it. That's what matters." "It's the ultimate payoff," added Terry Balsamo, flanked, along with Lee, by bandmates Will Hunt, Tim McCord and Troy McLawhorn. [Eng] Evanescence’s Amy Lee discusses follow-up single to, ‘What You Want’ (AudioInkRadio.com)8/11/2011 Amy Lee and Evanescence are on the top of the world right now, as they have the No. 1 album in the country with their self-titled, third studio album. The goth-inspired rock band’s debut single off the release, ‘What You Want,’ is quickly ascending up the active rock chart, but if you ask Ms. Lee, the band are already thinking about their next single.
“We’re planning on it being, ‘My Heart is Broken,” Lee told Audio Ink Radio, referring to the fourth track on the release. “The jury is still kind of out, but we have a good handful of songs that all could be singles, so it’s really hard for us to choose right now. Especially now that we’re starting to playing the songs live and starting to hear fan reactions and are seeing which ones really go over well. It’s hard, become sometimes it’s not ones you would expect.” Lee went on to say that choosing a single is not taken lightly in camp Evanescence. “Finding the right single is a different thing. We can write songs all day without pressure, but when it comes to picking a single, it’s more a decision of, ‘How are we going to reach the masses? Which song is going to make the most people turn up the station?’ I think it’s a hard choice.” Read Audio Ink Radio’s review of Evanescence’s latest album via the reviews page, and find out why the sound captured on the set is signature Evanescence.
